Description
This essential oil is traditionally obtained from the leaves of wintergreen plants through stem processing of warmed, water-soaked wintergreen leaves. It is often applied to skin to act as a counter irritant to relieve muscle pain. The active ingredient of wintergreen oil, methyl salicylate is closely related to aspirin since it possesses analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. The cultivation of the plant is comprehensively cultivated in China.
